GVAT Demands a New Future for Old Growth
The last of BC’s old growth forests are critical to combating climate change because they can store more carbon than any other ecosystem on the planet. They protect communities from fires, floods and droughts. Yet every day, more than 500 soccer fields of these big old trees are clear cut in BC (and huge GHG emissions are released in the process). Future generations are depending upon us.

Dear Hon. Doug Donaldson,
I urge the Provincial Government to fully implement and fund the recommendations of its own independent report and act in compliance with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and in an actively anti-racist manner to: end logging of productive old growth forest, increase sustainable forestry practices, and directly ensure that any workers or communities (particularly indigenous communities), that will be adversely economically impacted by the protection of old growth, are fully supported to economic sustainability through a Green New Deal.
