50,000 hotel workers laid off due to Covid-19 are worrying how they will put food on the table, pay rent, and support their families next month.
We can't wait any longer for the government to do the right thing and give workers a legal right to return to work. Since last Monday, laid-off hotel workers have been fasting to save their jobs at the BC Legislature in Victoria. With COVID-19 impacting our lives, we're making this action as inclusive as possible. If you want to support hotel workers, join us at the BC Legislature building next Wednesday, August 19th and send an e-mail to the government by copying and pasting the text on the right into the message form (bottom of the page on mobile browsers).

Dear Hon. John Horgan,
I am writing to ask that you guarantee that hospitality workers have a job to go back to as the economy recovers. They stayed home because the government told everyone to protect public health, but now they are not sure if they will have jobs to return to and whether their employers will hire them back.
Hotel workers have generated billions in revenue to the tourism industry. They're the ones who have spent years building B.C.'s hospitality industry. While the governmental assistance during COVID-19 has been helpful, that will be for nothing if hospitality workers don't have jobs to go back to when all this is over.
Just last week, the Province extended temporary layoffs to help businesses delay severance payments. The hospitality workers shouldn't be left behind. I ask that you do the right thing by legally ensuring that they have jobs to return to.
