GVAT’s “A Roof for Everyone” Workshop a success with 34 in-person attendees

On Feb. 26, 2022, 34 participants attended a 2 ½-hr. workshop at Holy Cross Church. This in-person event was designed to raise awareness of the critical shortage of housing supply in Saanich, to dispel biases and misconceptions against renters and residents of social housing, and to invite visions of truly inclusive communities. Four member associations of GVAT (Holy Cross Catholic Church, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Broad View United Church, and the First Unitarian Church) jointly organized this workshop. Saanich Councilor Zac de Vries gave a presentation on actions Saanich is undertaking to address the housing crisis. His talk was followed by a Q & A session, after which participants broke into small groups to discuss questions related to housing. Highlights of the discussions can be read here, and suggestions for follow-up actions here.
